My grandson, Michael, 9, has an iPod mini so I thought we should do this review together. I did not tell him what was in the kit. I instructed him to observe the quality and design of the packaging and the contents of the kit and to tell me what he thought about them and what rating he would give the kit in general. I also wanted to know which accessory was his favorite and why.

First, of course, he proceeded to open the box. He had to be careful because it was fluted with a compartment for each of the three components. It looked cool on the outside but was not easy to handle while opening. The accessory kit contained two dashboard mounts, a neck strap, and a swivel belt clip. He tried the neck strap first, and said he had to keep his hand on the iPod mini to keep it from swinging from side to side when he walked or ran. In other words, he did not find it very practical. I tried it around my neck and I did not find it very comfortable, either.

The included Snap-on Clip integrates with all the Xtremity accessories in the box. Michael could not immediately find any use for the two mounts, though they could be of value to an older person. I suggested that he could use one to mount his iPod mini on the dashboard of a car and the other on his computer desk. He said he was afraid the mounts would not hold the iPod securely, stating that the sticky stuff would become old with time and eventually cause the iPod mini to fall. His favorite accessory was the swivel belt clip. He found it easy to attach to his belt and it kept his hands free while allowing quick removal. This is the most important piece in the kit but the belt clip can be purchased elsewhere for $4.

Pros: Good concept

Cons: Pricey
