iDatabase may be purchased directly from Apimac's website. A free trial is also available. The Mac version is 2.3 while the iOS version is 4.0.

I tested it on my MacBook. I occasionally viewed the iOS version on my iPod touch.

iDatabase was originally written to operate on iOS devices. Now it has been upgraded to also run on a desktop system. With the new upgrade an iDatabase user can "sync" bi-directionally between a Mac and an iOS device such as an iPhone or iPod touch.

There are three basic buttons in the "Menu Bar" in iDatabase:

"Open" is the starting point in creating a new database. You can create a new database, using one of 22 templates. This window also displays all of the databases that you have created so that you can open any one of them for viewing or editing.

"Define" is the 2nd step, in my opinion, in your database creation. This window enables you to select existing fields that are unique to the template you have chosen. You can add fields, rename fields, delete fields, and arrange them as you choose.

"Use" is the window in which you add, edit, or delete entries. You can work in "list' view or "card" view, which is an individual entry. I prefer working in card view.

Once I got the hang of it, it was pretty straightforward and easy to use. Although I use Address Book on my MacBook and iPod touch for contacts, iDatabase could prove to be handy for other lists, notes, logs, etc., to have with me when I am "on the go."

iDatabase lacks an instructional page, with examples, as well as a working tutorial. If you have specific questions about iDatabase they can be emailed to Apimac. You will receive an answer in about 48 hours.
