Spyro Speakers
Product:
JBL SPYRO — in FUCHSIA

Company: JBL/Harman Multimedia
URL: http://http://www.jbl.com/home/products/

Price: $129.95

System Requirements: Anything with a a stereo mini jack

Overall Rating: 4.5 out of 5 Apples

Warning: This multimedia speaker system is not for anyone of the masculine persuasion!

The JBL Spyro is a three-piece system of Powered Satellite Speakers and Subwoofer. It is by far, one of the most adorable speaker systems available today. What sets this system apart is its tiny, 3.5" flower shaped speakers. The subwoofer is an 8 inch dome shaped ball of energy. Available colors are teal, fuchsia and white subwoofer with orange speakers. Each speaker is 6 watts, while the subwoofer pounds out 24 watts. While very small, this system delivers amazing, rich, deep sound. The Spyro works with iPods, MP3 players, computers and even game consoles. All it requires is a stereo mini jack.

Setup is quite easy. Connect the two speakers and the power cord to the subwoofer, plug the power cord into the wall, and plug your iPod or computer into the stereo mini jack. Start playing your music, and adjust the knob in the back of the subwoofer to control the bass. That's it. The bass is amazing on this tiny machine. You can go anywhere from nice and low bass, to bass that sounds like it should be shaking the trunk of a teenager's car.

I really put these speakers to the test. The sound quality was great no matter what I threw at it. I gave it everything from classical music to heavy metal. Movies are also quite an experience with these powerful little speakers. They sound great during the entire movie, but when an action scene comes on, the subwoofer will stun you.

It features one touch volume controls on the speaker petals. The buttons are metal and touch sensitive, so there is no worry of moving the speaker when changing the volume. Touch both to mute. The JBL Spyro remembers your previous volume settings every time the system is powered on. I tried setting the volume of both the speakers and the computer to maximum, and heard no sound distortion. While the sound quality is quite good for such small speakers, the volume is not enough to really fill a large or noisy room.

The warranty is for one year (not 90 days) through Harmon. It also covers all subsequent owners, not just the original owner.

The Spyro comes with a braided cord. In addition to being more aesthetically pleasing than plastic, braided cord is better quality. Another plus, my cat is less likely to nibble on it.

You will be very happy with the JBL Spyro system. Its eye catching design of flower shaped speakers complements any computer, especially one from Apple.
