"Hardware" Review
by Maria O. Arguello

Flip Video Ultra Product: Slimblade Presenter Media Mouse

Company: Kensington

URL: www.Kensington.com/

Price: $49.99

Rating: 4 out of 5 Apples

Kensington has a new wireless laser mouse that combines presenter and media controller in one. This slim, sleek unit fits in your pocket for easy portability. The USB micro receiver fits inside the mouse and is very tiny. Simply plug it into a USB port and you have connectivity in all directions over a 30-foot range.

I have never been very successful with presentation mice. I have disliked their lack of precision. This mouse gets it right, making it easy to navigate through your documents with superior precision.

Its unique 360-degree Scroll Ball provides unique scrolling, corner to corner or diagonally. There is a multifunction navigation pad to easily control iTunes, both volume and track selection.

In media mode, the laser pointer is bright and easily to use and see.

The battery indicator lets you know you will need new your batteries well before it becomes a crisis. When you open the battery cover to remove the USB receiver, the indicator light in back of the Scroll Ball will be green for charged batteries and red if you need to replace them. The light stays on for about 5 seconds.

It was not easy to get this mouse to work on a Mac. I had to call Kensington's tech support, where I received excellent and fast assistance. They told me to just ignore the error message. Once I did that, everything worked fine. There are no drivers. Simply install the included batteries, insert the microdrive in a USB port and use the mouse and/or laser pointer.
