If you want to make the most of your experience with your Mac why not combine it with your TV? It is what Elgato Systems products do. With EyeHome you can view your digital media on your big screen TV, on your entertainment center and in the comfort of your living room. It accesses iPhoto, Movies, Music, and EyeTV recordings on your Mac.You can also listen to a limited number of radio stations though you cannot add any new ones; and while connected to the Internet you can surf with Safari.

The tuner is a small gray box that could be stacked on top of the EyeTV 200 tuner to save desk real estate. It comes with an ethernet cable and a remote control. You'll have to provide your own RCA cables to connect it to your TV. I connected it to an Airport Extreme Base Station to access the Web. The installation was a cinch and I had it working in five minutes after installing the software on my Mac. It was as easy and fun to use as a Mac.

The EyeHome found the files on my Mac without a problem nor with any additional programming or need to read the manual. I was able to view albums of photos in my iPhoto Library. It found my albums in my iTunes library-MP3, WAV and AAC are all supported. I could choose by album, genre, or artist to play from the beginning, repeat, or stop. Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman never sounded so good

Some improvements are needed regarding fast forwarding to favorite parts when viewing EyeTV recordings. The fast forward control is too slow even at the 4x speed and needs a boost. I had recorded an hour program with a half-hour lead. I used the painstakingly slow fast forward, hit play, and it jumped to the beginning of the lead. It was frustrating. It's best to edit an EyeTV 200 recording, save it and then play it back with EyeHome. I find the slow fast forward is EyeHome's greatest shortcoming. And playback of EyeTV recordings is poor when EyeTV recordings are not made at the highest quality.

The menus are clear and mostly easy to navigate. I had to fuss somewhat getting to the menus for Play From The Beginning, Repeat, or Stop. The included remote control is adequate and doesn't take very long to learn to use. It includes the batteries.

Playing movies from my Movies folder was not easy. Not every version of DivX is supported, and it plays MPEG 4 with some pixelation. The playback is best when recordings are made at the highest quality. I was unable to play QuickTime movies.

I am looking forward to the updates from Elgato Systems to improve the shortcomings of this product. I still recommend this product for its ease of use and the entertainment factor. Family and friends are always very impressed.
