This book is a keeper. But then again, all of Scott Kelby's books belong in
the top ten list of the most necessary books for digital photographers who
use Adobe Photoshop. The pictures pop out at you in amazing bright colors.
The easy step-by-step descriptions for applying a technique are easy to
follow with the side-by-side illustrations for the visual learner.
The book covers many examples on how to use the new features in Adobe's
Photoshop CS2 such as Bridge Essentials and Advanced Bridge Techniques. He
helps photographers fix the usual problems applying the new features and
simplifying familiar techniques such as Mastering Camera Raw, Resizing and
Cropping, Color Management Step-By-Step, Color Correction Secrets, Black and
White, Dealing with Image Problems, Removing Unwanted Objects, Retouching
Portraits, Photographic Special Effects, Creating Panoramas, Sharpening
Techniques, How to Show Your Work, and Showing Your Client.
Scott Kelby has a humorous and entertaining writing style but still makes
complex and difficult Photoshop techniques clear and easy to follow. The
results are always stunning. He shows how photographers can make their
excellent photos more dramatic and exciting. He also offers new ways for
fixing and rescuing photos that will save you a lot of time and money.
My older version of this book The Photoshop CS Book for Digital
Photographers is the book I use the most to enhance my photographs. I have
added many tabs and bookmarks where I go most often. I am looking forward to
adding this book to my most-used and treasured collection of books when I
work with the new Adobe Photoshop CS2. I can always feel confident that
complicated techniques are easily achievable because of the way Scott Kelby
presents them. You can jump around in the book to wherever your needs take
you. You can download the photographs he uses in the book, if you wish to
work on them as a tutorial or you can use your own. I like to use my own
when I need to apply a technique because it saves me time. Above all you
MUST read the Introduction under the threat of extreme pain inflicted by
Scott if you skip it. Really, he's serious. He has two good reasons but he
can only state one, as he can't remember the second one. This book is a
riotand you learn a lot, too.
